In May 2002, Walmart held a Jedi Training Academy event to celebrate the release of Attack of the Clones. The Clone Building Challenge was part of that event. Contestants had to reach down into the box to grab parts to see how many clones they could assemble in 60 seconds.
The kit for the Clone Building Challenge included the following items:
- 150 Jedi Training Activity Booklets
- 150 Jedi Challenge Official Certificates of Achievement
- Parts for 150 Clone Minifigures (1 bag each of legs, bodies, and helmets)
- Clone Box
These Clone Building Challenge boxes alone are very rare as they were not sold or given to consumers. According to an article I read, there were roughly 2,500 Walmart stores at the time. Each store was under very strict orders by LEGO to immediately destroy all of the pieces following the event, so only a fraction of these boxes still exist. The booklets and certificates that were handed out to contestants were unlikely to have been kept, making them also very rare.
