Need help purchasing the parts to build one of our MOCs? This post provides step-by-step instructions on purchasing the parts you need on BrickLink. Buying parts using one of our XML-formatted parts lists is relatively simple process.
Step 1: Go to BrickLink
BrickLink is the largest online marketplace for LEGO bricks and we highly recommend it for purchasing parts.
- Once there, hover over Want and then click Upload.
The BrickLink Upload Form will be displayed.
Step 2: Complete the Upload Process
- Select Upload BrickLink XML format at the top of the form.
- Select Create New Wanted List from the Add to dropdown list.
- Enter the name of your parts list (e.g., “NY I ♥ Yoda Statue Replica Parts”) in the Wanted List Name field that is displayed when you selected the Create New Wanted List selection.
- Open the XML file you downloaded and select all the text in the file.
- Use Ctrl+C to copy the text and then Ctrl+V to paste it into the Copy and paste here field on BrickLink.
- Finally, click on Proceed to very items –>.
The second page of the upload process will be displayed.
- On this page, you can adjust condition (new, used, or any), adjust quantities, or exclude line items, if you need to.
- Once you have made any adjustments you want to make, click on the Add to Wanted List button.
After the items are added to your Wanted List, the Items successfully added! screen will be displayed.
- Click the View “<listname>” button to open your new wanted list.
Step 3: Find Stores that Have Your Parts
- Click the Buy All button.
The Buy Wanted Lists page will be displayed.
On this page, you can adjust the store filters to control which stores to purchase from.
- Once you have made any adjustments you want to make, click on the Auto-Select button.
After you click the Auto-Select button a dialog box will be displayed asking you if you want to include stores when the item price is lower than the store’s Minimum Buy. If you choose to check this option, you will either need to add additional items to the shopping cart for that store or request a bypass password from the store owner in order to complete your purchase at that store.
- To keep things simple, uncheck that option and click the Start button.
BrickLink will recommend a combination of stores to complete your Wanted List purchase at an optimal prices including estimated shipping costs. The selected stores will be displayed above the Store Filters section of the page.
- Click the Create carts button to automatically move the selected items into each store’s shopping cart.
Step 4: Complete Your Purchases
